Light at the end of the tunnel

Well folks, I have three bits of excellent news, so buckle your seat belt! First, Dad is off dialysis again as of this morning. It's like he has super-hero kidneys. (I wonder if they have little capes? If not, they should. Kidney capes. *cue trumpet fanfare*)

Second, Dad was having a well-earned rest in his chair because he walked THIRTY FEET! It's the farthest he's walked since he checked into the hospital. Granted, it was with a walker and a burly PT on either side of him, but still. The bed bicycling (which he did get to do yesterday after all) is clearly paying off.

Third, his white blood cell count is up to 1.3!! Which means it has more than doubled since yesterday! I think you should feel free to put on Vince Guaraldi's "Linus and Lucy" and do a happy dance a la Snoopy. I know *I* certainly am!

As for when he can get sprung from the joint, the doctors are still saying maddeningly nebulous things like "Soon," so we must continue to have patience (a virtue, as I may have mentioned before, I am not in possession of). Perhaps some of you can help me out with that.

All of this leads me to believe what I have long suspected: There is light at the end of this tunnel. So today, Team Eric, send light. Let's light up this tunnel like the Fourth of July! LIke Christmas trees on steroids! Like the local power plant was taken over by monkeys OD'ing on caffeine!

Let's do this!!
